| | Bob Vander Plaats lays out his plan, if he is elected governor, to halt gay "marriage" via an executive order on day one until such a time as the people of Iowa have the opportunity to vote. Click on the following link: Vander Plaats on Marriage |

| | | We had a great Patriot Pastors meeting in Des Moines yesterday. Bob Vander Platts and Representative Kent Sorensen were able to attend and speak. We were able to update the pastors on the July 2, Fort Dodge Rally, the Marriage Amendment, the Hate Crimes Bill and Sonia Sotomayor, the Supreme Court nominee. Thank you to all of the Pastors and laymen who were able to make it out to the meeting! |

| | | I came across this quote from the preface of Webster's 1828 Dictionary. "In my view, the Christain religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children under a free government ought to be instructed." Faith of Our Fathers |

| | In the case of Varnum vs. Brien on April 3 of this year, the Iowa Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act that has been Iowa law since enacted by a large majority of the legislature in 1998. In doing so, they have attacked not only the Biblical family unit, the basic building block of our society; they have also struck a blow at the very root of constitutional government in Iowa.
They have caused the state to endorse the abomination of homosexual "marriage". But as bad as that is, it is only a symptom of a greater evil: The tyranny of a branch of government cut off from its constitutional moorings.

| | Since hearing Pastor Paul Blair at the first Reclaim Iowa for Christ Rally in Marion, I've been thinking much on the role of Christians in the foundation of our State and Nation. God's hand is evident throughout the history of the United States. The hands of God's people are manifest in the vast majority of laws passed until the middle of the twentieth century.
So why are Christians now told that Biblical truth has no place in government? Why do we submit to this lie of the enemy, and allow our government to starve for want of the Word of God?
The founders certainly didn't intend to exclude Christians from public service; most of them professed faith in Jesus Christ. Our Lord didn't intend for us to retire from the society; He commanded us to "occupy" until He returns.
For some great reading on the subject of our founding fathers' views on the Christian's place in the public square, read Patriot Post publisher Mark Alexander's essay from May 14, "Religion and Politics Don't Mix?" |

| | The Lord blessed in a great way at our first Reclaim Iowa for Christ Rally in Marion last night. More then 100 leaders attended the Leadership Banquet and over 500 packed the auditorium at Grace Baptist Church for the Rally at 7:00PM. Stirring speeches by Iowa Family Policy Center President, Chuck Hurley, Iowa Rep. Kraig Paulsen, and possible gubernatorial candidate Bob Vander Plaats preceded a wonderful documentation of our Christian Heritage by Pastor Paul Blair from Edmund, Oklahoma. Everyone in attendance was encouraged and strengthened in their zeal to share their faith and do more to turn Iowa back to the Biblical values of our forefathers.
